As a Board Certified Orthopedic
Surgeon, Dr. Rekant specializes in diagnosing and rendering
treatment for conditions, injuries and diseases relative
to the hand, wrist, and elbow. Born in Syracuse, New York,
Dr. Mark S. Rekant graduated from Duke University, Magna
Cum Laude, before earning his M.D. at the University of
Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey/New Jersey Medical
School (UMDNJ-NJMS). Dr. Rekant was selected for a General
Surgical Internship and an Orthopedic Surgery Residency
at NYU Medical School before earning a Hand Surgery Fellowship
at The Hand Centers.
Dr. Rekant is the recipient of the NYU
Department of Orthopedic Surgery Academic Excellence Scholarship,
UMDNJ-NJMS Academic Excellence Scholarship and the Jeremias
J. Dubyk, M.D. Scholarship for exemplary extracurricular
involvement and scholastic achievement. At UMDNJ-NJMS,
Dr. Rekant served as Vice President of the Alpha Omega
Alpha Honor Society and also received the Merck Manual
Award and the Alumni Association Special Recognition Book
Award.
Dr. Rekant has written a number of articles
and abstracts, and has been published in many journals,
including the Academic Emergency Medicine and the Annuals
of Emergency Medicine. He has delivered numerous presentations,
and continues to diligently pursue his academic interest
in orthopedic surgery.
Prior to joining The Hand Centers,
Dr. Rekant was on the professional staff at Hawaii Permanente
Medical Group.
