Dr. Stephanie Sweet is a former
Fellow of The Philadelphia Hand Center. She is the first
female physician in The Hand Center’s history and
brings to the practice an impressive list of professional
accomplishments.
Born in Manhattan, Dr. Sweet received
her undergraduate degree from Harvard University where
she was awarded their Harvard Scholarship for Academic
Distinction and graduated Cum Laude. She then enrolled
in Mount Sinai Medical School where she studied in their
general surgery program for two full years rather than
the required one. When she moved on to Mount Sinai’s
intense orthopaedic surgery program, she was honored to
train under Dr. Dempsey S. Springfield, a renowned tumor
specialist. Subsequently, Dr. Sweet received a Fellowship
to study with the doctors of The Hand Centers. She returned
to Mount Sinai following her Fellowship to work as a Clinical
Assistant Professor there and at Elmhurst Hospital, its
Level I trauma affiliate.
Dr. Sweet returned to The Hand Centers
when the opportunity arose. At The Hand Center, Dr. Sweet
has a full surgical and patient schedule. Additionally,
she teaches and works with current Fellows. She has published
numerous articles on the subject of hand surgery and is
a member of the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society, the
American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American
Society for Surgery of the Hand.
Dr. Sweet is a dedicated runner
and is proud to have participated in the Boston Marathon.
